Hi everybody,
I've been very busy after coming back from Germany, so I haven't had any time for writing... sorry!
I was very pleased with the visit to the school in Beckum, all the teachers and those students who worked with us were very nice. It was interesting to see a little bit about their teaching methods. Maybe I'll go back there in spring to teach English for 2 weeks. :)
I was also very satisfied with the presentations of our students there, all the German teachers found them excellent, too. Thank you very much for your good work! I hope you have got some new experiences and good memories from the trip.

In a moment I'll meet the Czech teacher, who's here with his students because of this same Space II project. The teacher will attend my English lessons.

I wish you all Merry Christmas and relaxing holiday!

Guests from Czech!

Hello my friends,

Weather was really typical finnish weather when our guests arrived in Savonlinna. Little bit snow and now it's already raining, and that's boring! Well, we were working today in our workshop for about 5 hours with our guests. My students Tiina, Minttu and Miska worked with them. They did a bit woodworking and lacquering. The day went really fast and it was really nice.

We also told the czech teachers about the blog and how we use it as an diary in teaching. In the end of the day we gathered together and posted some texts in the SPACE2-blog. Ipads did not want to co-operate with us and we did not manage to any pictures in the blog, yet...

Here is an video posting text in the blog...

We  visited school Paviljonki in the morning . After that we went to workshops where we worked on the  machines and made some products, e.g.benches.There was a very good co-operation with the Finnish students. We liked today´programme very much.

Back to Finland

About 2 weeks ago we got back to Finland.

In Germany we played Speckbrett (like tennis with heavy wooden paddles), but I got a headache and could't play to the end. After school me and Tiina walked around Beckum. In Friday we went to Münster to sight seeing. After that we walk aroud the citys Christmas Market.

And on Saturday morning we had to wake early, because trip to Düsseldorf Airport takes couples of hours.

Visitors from Czech

Today we had 6 visitors from Czech. With two of them I worked and did parts for the customers benches. First I I was little bit timid about my English skills, but we got the job done!

Visiting Paviljonki

Today we have at first visited Paviljonki where were given presentations on Finnlad and also gave the ones on the Czech Republic, working in small groups mixed of Czech and Finnish students. Then there was a questionnaire about the Czech Republic worked out by Czech students. After that we worked in the workshops in Puusampo with wood for the rest of the day. Both places were very interesting and the Finnish very helpful.

Visiting in Sami

Today we visited Paviljonki and Puusampo where we visited a class with Finnish students and we gave a presentation about our city and had conversation with them. Then we went to Puusampo and worked in the workshop. We tried to make a bench but we had not enough time to finish it.

Last day's at Germany

Hello! Yesterday we visited at the other local vocational school, after that we went to the "Berufs Kolleg Beckum" to show our presentations about Finland and Savonlinna and our departments. After that we ate light lunch before the Speckbrett tournament. In the evening we went to the school kitchen to make and have dinner with the students and teachers. Food was really delicious.

Today we had a little guided tour in Münster to sightseeing the city. After tour we had our own time to have a lunch and to do some shopping. We spent alot of time to find a restaurant called Subway to have our lunch. We didn't find it so we had to go to Mc Donald's. In the evening we went to have a dinner at American restaurant and we ate the most crappiest pizza ever! Now we are just writing this blog and going to sleep because we have to wake up so early tomorrow. All the German teachers and students were nice and it has been so fun and great to be here at Beckum. Thank you and good night see ya tomorrow!

End of the week

Hallo!

Es geht gut, sehr gut :) It has been nice trip to Beckum (Germany). People has been very nice and friendly.

Yesterday we visited another school and the teachers told us about the school systems in Germany.  How the school systems work and so on. We speculated a bit the thing how finnish teachers are better than german teachers. And that subject was brought up by an german teacher not us :)

In the evening we got an opportunity to cook with german teachers and students. It was great cooking, learning english and a little bit german too.

Minttu, Jarkko and Sven are discussing what to do  in the kitchen

We have also talked about the project, what it gives to all of us. For example how it encourages students to go to work abroad, their english is getting better...And we have been talking also about the "workshop" days,  how they are like at the moment and how could we make them better.

Tsüss!
